My year abroad

About myself

¡Hola!

My name is Rossella, but everybody calls me Scarlett. I am Italian and I am studying Festival and Events Management with Spanish at Edinburgh Napier University, in Scotland.
I am a very curious person: I love meeting new people, seeing new places, and learning new things about different cultures and traditions. I am very friendly and easygoing, and I love hanging out with people and getting involved in music and events, although I appreciate very much even the little joys in life, like chilling in a park and enjoying nature.
As I am studying a foreign language, my programme of studies requires me to go study abroad, so this blog will be a diary where I can share ideas and information about my Erasmus year in Spain.

Why I am interested in studying abroad

Being Italian myself and having experienced living and studying abroad more than once in foreign language speaking countries (I have lived in the United Stated as an Exchange student during high school, and I am now a university student in Edinburgh), I can confirm how important it is to go abroad if you want to improve the language. I am interested in another experience abroad (abroad from the abroad) also because I strongly believe there is no better method to learn about other countries and cultures than living in those countries as a citizen and not as a tourist.
Moreover, this opportunity, as any other life experience, will shape my personality and help me better get to know myself, as well as helping me grow as a person and develop new skills and responsibilities.

What my expectations are for my period abroad

I am very positive about my year in Spain.
I am sure it will be a great unique experience and I will have the time of my life!
I am expecting a lot of good things coming up, although I know it will be very challenging. Leaving everything and going abroad is not an easy choice, I know, but I have done it before, so I am pretty prepared for this next step. I will learn so many things from the local people and my Spanish skills will improve day by day.
I would love to get involved in something very traditional as well, so I can get a better understanding of the culture.
